Rocky Mountain Summer Adventure Camps Bring Learning to Life! 

 The  Museum of Idaho's summer science camp program, Rocky Mountain Adventure, has grown and expanded to accommodate the ever increasing public interest. Camps are available for youth ages 7 - 15. Educators looking to earn continuing credits or just wanting a fun learning experience can participate in the Rocky Mountain Adventure for Teachers.

Participants in RMA summer camps are taken on numerous field trips to a variety of ecosystems and habitats where they learn the importance of diversity and coexistence through hands-on scientific exploration, combined with adventure and fun.

Junior Adventure Camp is for children ages 7-10. Participants will conduct experiments, explore science hands-on, and see how fun and easy science can be!

Location:  Museum of Idaho
Dates: June 18-21
Time:  9:00 a.m. - noon
Cost: $100 per child, $90 per child for MOI members

 
Original Camp is for children ages 11-14. Participants visit various habitats and ecosystems in eastern Idaho, including Market Lake Wildlife Refuge, Hell's Half Acre, and the desert region west of Idaho Falls. Through scientific exploration, this camp encourages students to examine the importance of bio-diversity and the interconnectedness of humans and wildlife. Participants also meet several scientists who provide a rare glimpse into the scientific fields of anthropology, archeology, and geology. Participants need to bring a sack lunch, water, and snacks; durable outdoor clothing appropriate for the weather and season (including hiking shoes and long pants); sun block, bug spray. Lunch is provided by the Museum of Idaho on the last day.

Location:  We will meet at the museum each day and then travel to a variety of locations.
Dates: June 11-14
Time:  8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (8:00-5:00 on last day)
Cost per child: $150 per child
                     $125 per child for MOI members
                     $100 each additional sibling
 
High Adventure Camp is for youth ages 12-15, and perfect for students who've already completed the Original Camp. This camp is more physically strenuous and challenging than the Original Camp with more in-depth activities. Participants will explore new locations, including Wolverine Canyon, Menan Buttes, and the Snake River area near Shelly. RMHA participants will learn how to become better at observing and questioning the world around them so that they can take the next step of improving their surroundings. This camp will show participants simple ways that they can make a difference in the world around them.

Dates: June 25-28
Time:  8:00 a.m. - 3:00 p.m. (8:00 - 5:00 on last day)

                     $125 per child for MOI members
